Street Level Interdiction Understanding Criminal Investigation
The small city and county roads are becoming more highly traveled with criminals trying to get through without being detected. The contraband is being delivered in passenger vehicles equipped with hidden compartments and by using the vehicles natural voids. Having an aggressive criminal enforcement team working in a local jurisdiction can have a big impact on problem areas in a community. Interdiction is an enforcement action that can be performed by any certified police officer, if they know what to do. This course teaches Vehicle Indicators, Courier Characteristics, Roadside Interviews, Physical & Verbal Indicators, as well as common concealment techniques. Interdiction is not just for drugs, it is beyond that. Highly trained interdiction officers will take a traffic stop beyond the traffic ticket to make major criminal arrests.
This class is an investigative class that has been designed to assist anyone interested in the investigative process and how to avoid the pitfalls of why cases fail. Criminal investigation has received a lot of interest since CSI and other such programs, but the real strategies for success are sticking to the basics of crime scene investigation. The investigator or patrol officer responding to a crime has a great impact of the future success in the investigation. They must understand the responsibilities of the first officer: protecting the scene; searching strategies, identifying and the documenting evidence, identifying and interviewing of victims, witnesses, and suspects; and understanding of the follow-up or latent investigative process. Ethical Decision Making for the Ethical Officer and Leader
One of the greatest challenges in the public and private sectors is the supposed conflict between efficiency and ethics. This has been a topic of discussion even during the times of Socrates and yet is still a real issue today. Look at the many individuals, from all positions of life that learned this lesson the hard way, for ethics does matter. This course addresses what it takes to be an ethical officer and/or leader and how important ethics is at all levels of the organization, but critical at the top. Real life case studies will be used to address ethical dilemmas and special ethical issues of police discretion, use of force, racial profiling, gratuities and/or corruption, and other challenges facing law enforcement. Students need to be prepared to address real life issues.

Time Management
Time is something that we all have, but it is limited. This is not a course on how to make lists or even prioritize your daily obligations, because time management is life management. This course is about how to live, how to say no, how to understand and focus on core values: personal and organizational. The reality is we only have so much time in a day, a week, a month, or even a life, so how do you want to spend it. This course is a skill building class and you will learn how to manage your time, rather than being managed by it. This is one of the critical differences in becoming a leader.
Change Management
Change, even little change, can be a great stress to any individual or within an organization. Change can be very difficult, but even more difficult is to manage the changes of others. This course is about the impact of change and how to address issues and minimize the impact of those in the organization through communication, trust building, and understanding the different stages of stress management or grief. Little things don’t mean a lot; they mean everything to those going through this challenge. This course will greatly assist managers, supervisions, and leaders in accomplishing things through, not in spite of, people. Failing to address this change can be the one factor that becomes the bottleneck in you accomplishing results.
Conflict Negotiations
Everything in life and within an organization is a series of negotiations or conflict resolutions. This class is more of a class of survival for anyone who is a supervisor or leader. You need to lead through people, but leadership is accomplishing results. This course develops the leader’s skills in resolving real life issues and how to solve problems. Anyone who has been in a position of management knows the enormous amount of time you will spend on solving people problems again and again. This course is designed to help the supervisor in addressing issues and solving problems through negotiations skills.
